2009-11-23-Georgia_Survey_Highlight
IRI today released a survey which found that unemployment is a top concern for Georgian residents, with 33% mentioning it as their first concern and 59% mentioning it overall. When asked about the current situation and the future of the country, participants responded that they were most afraid of the danger of war. Territorial integrity was also an issue, with 59% of the participants saying that it should be the Georgian government's first priority. The survey was conducted from September 29 - October 5, 2009 by the Institute of Polling and Marketing for Baltic Surveys/Gallup on behalf of IRI.

IRI partner, the Kaznet Freedom Civic Initiative in Kazakhstan, announced member Ulan Shamshet as one of five winners of a video contest sponsored by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The contest highlighted civil society in action as a part of OSCE’s efforts to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain.

2009_11_17_Cuba_Poll_Highlight
A year-and-a-half after Gen. Raúl Castro assumed the presidency of Cuba, more than four in five citizens on the island (82 percent) do not believe things are going well, according to a recent survey sponsored by IRI. The survey, which was fielded on the island last summer, showed a vast majority of Cubans would vote for fundamental political change (75 percent) and economic change (86 percent) if given the opportunity.
