Thousands of Youth Attend IRI's Democracy Fair
August 21, 2005
August 21-23, 2005, the International Republican Institute (IRI) held its third in a series of five youth fairs to encourage youth involvement in Bangladesh's political process. Between 4,000 and 5,000 students attended the event held in Barisal. The three-day fair offered a wide range of activities, including campaign training seminars and workshops with discussions on issues important to youth, such as HIV/AIDS awareness. The conference also offered a venue for nongovernmental organizations to provide information on internships, volunteer activities and employment to participants of the youth fair.
IRI's next youth fair is expected to be held in January 2006 in Sylet, Bangladesh.
