April 22, 2005
April 22-23 – IRI conducted a women’s political and advocacy development workshop in Chisinau. One hundred politically-active women participated from throughout Moldova, including six parliamentarians. All of the primary political parties were invited to send representatives, as well as nongovernmental organizations actively promoting women’s rights and public policy. The objectives of the workshop were to discuss women’s political experiences and successes from the recent parliamentary election campaign in Moldova and the recent presidential campaigns in Ukraine and Romania, as well as to further develop expertise for future women’s participation in politics and public policy in Moldova.
The workshop received substantive coverage from the news media, including newspapers The Guard and Jurnal de Chisinau; the news agency, Flux; Radio Free Europe-Radio Liberty; Moldova 1 TV; and, Euro Nova TV. Workshop participants were interviewed on camera by Moldova 1 TV.
