IRI Slovakia Hosts Iraqi Delegation

March 23 – IRI’s Europe Regional office in Bratislava, Slovakia, hosted a luncheon presentation and discussion with a group of nine Iraqi exchange visitors. The presentation was part of a program to expose Iraqis to the democratic transition experiences of Slovakia. Iraqi participants included representatives of the Iraqi ministries of foreign affairs and selected Iraqi NGOs participated in a series of interactive training seminars, discussions and meetings during their three-week tour in Slovakia. The presentation offered participants from Slovakia and Iraq the opportunity to describe what they had learned during three-week tour and to offer some suggestions on the continuing and evolving needs in Iraq. The presentation was attended by 35 representatives of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the World Bank; the American, British, Croatian, and Polish embassies in Bratislava; Freedom House Budapest; the Center for the Study of Democracy and Culture in Brno; the Slovak media; and a number of NGOs.
