IRI Launches New Parliamentary Assistance Program
December 1, 2005
The International Republican Institute (IRI) recently launched a parliamentary assistance program in Romania. Working with a local polling firm IRI has started asses the needs and interests of Romanian’s deputies, senators, as well as their staff. Along with individual members of parliament and staff, IRI will also assist specific parliamentary committees in improving their operations. Additionally, IRI will work with a nongovernmental organization to produce a comprehensive guide on members of parliament and how the parliament runs. The guide will be made available to the public. IRI will be guided in its work by the program's fundamental goal of improving parliament's representation of the citizenry and accountability to the public.
