IRI Helps Expand Municipality One-Stop Service Centers

March 10, 2005

March 10-11 -- In 2003, IRI partnered with the rural municipality of Indjija to develop a one-stop service center where citizens can easily access municipal information, pay bills and apply for marriage licenses or other permits. Because of the success of the project, IRI is working to help establish similar centers in other rural Serbian municipalities. This March, IRI partnered again with the municipality of Indjija and the USAID Serbian Local Government Reform Project to conduct a customer care seminar for 40 municipal officials from 14 Serbian municipalities. Seminar participants toured Indjija's one-stop service center. IRI and DAI, a global development consulting firm that works with USAID, then co-hosted a training seminar for participants in nearby Novi Sad to take them step-by-step through the planning and implementation process of Indjija's center. Indjija mayor and longtime IRI partner, Goran Jesic, joined IRI's Ken Bricker and Jelena Bojovic and trainers from DAI to conduct sessions in project planning, internal and external communication and the principles of customer care.
