David A. Puening, Director of Administration

Dave Puening joined IRI in January 2006.  He has more than 30 years of experience in all phases of human resources management and administration.

Prior to coming to IRI, Puening worked for six years as Vice President of Administration with Citizens Development Corps, a nongovernmental organization involved with economic development around the world.  It was there that he gained his international human resources experience.  Prior to that, Puening's experience has been in the financial services industry where he worked in various senior human resources and administrative positions.  Companies at which he worked included The WMF Group, a nationwide commercial loan company, America's Community Banker's, a trade association representing the thrift industry; and Continental Federal Savings Bank, a billion dollar thrift with offices in Northern Virginia.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in personnel management from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, Puening continued his studies in human resources management through the Society for Human Resource Management, of which he has been a member for 25 years.  He has also authored a book on job descriptions for the financial services industry.

In addition to the Society for Human Resource Management, Puening is a member of the American Management Association, the Employee Service and Recreation Association and the International Facilities Management Association.

Dave and his wife reside in Leesburg, VA.
