Assistant Secretary of State Elizabeth Cheney Visits Morocco
April 1, 2005
Elizabeth Cheney, principal deputy assistant secretary of state for near eastern affairs and coordinator for broader Middle East and North Africa initiatives, visited Morocco late last week, where she spent time familiarizing herself with U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. State Department’s Middle East Partnership Initiative programs. USAID organized an event on Sunday in Casablanca to provide Cheney with a brief overview of the mission’s civil society, education, housing and local governance programs. IRI and several local partners and officials attended the event and spoke highly of their interaction with IRI.
