IRI Assists Pakistanis Conduct Public Opinion Polling
August 29, 2003
Summer 2003 - In an effort to build indigenous Pakistani polling capacity, IRI has been assisting local partners to establish an in-house polling unit through a comprehensive training program.
IRI’s polling expert traveled to Pakistan to train the staff and fieldworkers of the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) on the full mechanics of survey research, including questionnaire development, sampling, field work and data entry.
In late July, PILDAT held a two-day capacity-building workshop in Quetta for the members of the Balochistan provincial assembly. The subject of the workshop was the role of provincial assemblies in Pakistan’s Devolution of Power plan. A similar two-day workshop is planned for the members of the NWFP provincial assembly in Peshawar in the first week of September.
