July 13, 2011

The results of this poll were not released by IRI.  However, IRI is making available the methodology and the demographics to demonstrate that the poll complies with professional standards in the industry.

Poll work was conducted by Middle East Marketing and Research Consultants based in Amman, Jordan.

The groups under study are representative of the adult populations of the municipalities of
Al Wastyah, Ma’an, Shehan and Tafileh.

A stratified cluster sample based on the 2004 Housing and Population Census was utilized for the selection of 50 clusters across each municipality.  The Nyman allocation approach was employed to distribute the sample of clusters among the municipalities.

Ten households were drawn (with replacement allowing for non-contacts) from each cluster using a random start and a systematic procedure of selection to ensure representation of different parts of the cluster in the sample and to reduce intra-class correlation.

Researchers conducted one in–person interview per household, selected using the Kish method.

Sample size: 500 per municipality

Eligibility criteria: age 18 and older

The margin of error is +/- 2.5 percent.

The response rate was 92 percent.

The municipal polls included four municipalities within Jordan.

The field work was conducted April 6-12, 2011.
