Detailed Methodology: Survey of Macedonian Public Opinion, December 17-22, 2009
The poll field work was conducted by Brima based in Skopje, Macedonia. Oversight and analysis was provided by David Williams of Williams & Associates of Salem, Massachusetts.
The population under study is representative for the adult population of Macedonia.
The poll surveyed a nationwide random, multi-stage stratified representative sample. In the first stage, the sample was stratified by seven regions. In the second stage, the sample was further stratified by categories of settlement size and character within each region.
Additionally, respondents within each settlement where identified by a random selection of street addresses and the random walk method for households.
Upon random household selection, respondents in each household were chosen based on the next birthday method.
Sample size: 1,105
Eligibility criteria: age 18 and older
The margin of error is +/- three percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
Face-to-face interviews were conducted.
The nationwide poll included all regions of Macedonia.
The male-to-female ratio of respondents was 48 percent male to 52 percent female.
The age distribution of respondents was 18-24 years (15 percent), 25-34 (20 percent), 35-44 (20 percent), 45-54 (18 percent), 55-64 (13 percent), and 65+ (14 percent).
The field work was conducted on December 17-22, 2009.
