It was in the course of his work in Cambodia that he was gravely injured in a grenade attack on peaceful demonstrators on March 30, 1997.  Despite his injuries he continued his work to advance the cause of democracy in Cambodia and returned to Cambodia as an election observer in 1998.  Ron remained active in Cambodia throughout his life supporting various humanitarian causes there, including as a fulltime fundraiser for Takeo Orphanage of Cambodia.  Ron’s dedication to his work and helping others in Cambodia touched the lives of many.  Ron will be greatly missed by his IRI colleagues.
