Washington, DC – Lorne W. Craner, President of IRI, testified today before the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health, chaired by Donald M. Payne (D-NJ).  Craner’s testimony focused on the challenges facing Zimbabwe and recommendations for how the U.S. government should continue to support pro-democracy activists in the country.

While Craner stressed that the “international community is right to remain hesitant in its interactions with the inclusive government,” he went on to commend Chairman Payne and the Committee for “encouraging dialogue about avenues for engagement,” reminding all that “to withhold all support would be an unconscionable disservice to the people of Zimbabwe.”
