Washington, D.C.—Today, the Women’s Democracy Network (WDN) celebrated International Women’s Day with the release of a video highlighting three incredible women leaders from Ukraine, Tanzania and Guatemala. Each woman overcame the odds to become members of parliament, and shared their journey as members of WDN, the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) women’s empowerment initiative. The video kicks off WDN’s digital campaign, “She Speaks. She Votes. She Leads. We are all Heard.”
“The stories shared by these inspiring parliamentarians testify to the impact women can have when they connect with their greatest resource: each other,” said WDN Director Valerie Dowling. “We’re excited to celebrate International Women’s Day by honoring their achievements, and look forward to showcasing the work of so many other members of our network through this digital campaign.”
