Janet Mullins Grissom

Board Member

Janet Mullins Grissom has served on IRI’s Board of Directors since 1995.  Throughout her career, she has held senior positions in the executive branch, Congress and the White House.  Grissom served as assistant secretary for legislative affairs at the U.S. State Department, where she was the chief legislative strategist for Secretary James A. Baker, III.  She was later appointed by President George H. W. Bush to be assistant to the president for political affairs.  Grissom’s political experience includes senior roles in both presidential and senatorial campaigns.  She served as political director for the 1988 Bush for President Campaign, and served as a strategist for the 1992 Bush campaign.  She also served as campaign manager for Senator Mitch McConnell’s first U.S. Senate campaign.  She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Business-Government Relations Council.
