IRI Pays Tribute to Outgoing USAID Administrator and Former IRI President Mark Green

Washington, D.C.—The International Republican Institute (IRI) congratulates Ambassador Mark Green – who served as IRI’s President from 2014 to 2017 – on his remarkable tenure as Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

“Ambassador Green’s service as USAID Administrator has been transformative,” said IRI President Daniel Twining. “Under his leadership, USAID has placed democracy assistance at the heart of its efforts to maximize the impact of taxpayer dollars, aligned foreign aid with America’s strategic priorities, and supported our partners on their journey to self-reliance. He initiated bold responses to emerging challenges including the political crisis in Venezuela and the devastation wrought by ISIS in the Middle East, and carved out a leading role for USAID in whole-of-government efforts like the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative.

“We are proud that a member of the IRI family has had such a profound impact on how the United States advances democracy as a core national security interest. His vision will continue to shape IRI’s programs worldwide, and we congratulate him for all he has achieved for our country and the impact he has had on the wider world. We wish Ambassador Green all the best, and we look forward to working with his successor to strengthen democracy worldwide.”
