IRI Stands in Solidarity with Iranian Protestors 

Washington, DC – The International Republican Institute (IRI) issued the following statement on the ongoing protests taking place in the Islamic Republic of Iran:

“IRI stands in solidarity with the protestors in Iran who are fighting for their most basic human rights. This women-led movement, sparked by the death of 22-year old Mahsa Amini while being detained by Iran’s morality police, has shone a spotlight on the systematic repression of women and all Iranians by the Islamic Republic. Recent reports that more than 20 children were killed by government forces last month underscore the brutality and cruelty of this regime. 

“All peoples have the right to live freely with a government of their own choosing. IRI stands with the brave people of Iran in their fight for a democratic future and calls on the international community to hold the perpetrators of violence against these protestors accountable for their crimes.”
