Washington, DC – Today, the International Republican Institute (IRI) released the following statement on former President Jimmy Carter:
“The International Republican Institute mourns the loss of former President Jimmy Carter. As a Lieutenant in the Navy, State Senator, Governor of Georgia, and President of the United States, Jimmy Carter lived a life of public service dedicated to the well-being of his fellow citizens. In his post-White House years, he continued to serve others through his work with Habitat for Humanity and by championing free and fair elections abroad with the Carter Center. He will be remembered for his contributions to the landmark peace deal between Israel and Egypt, and for his promotion of human rights around the world.
“Our thoughts are with the Carter family and their loved ones at this time.”
