CEPPS is a nonprofit organization that pools the expertise of three premier international organizations – the National Democratic Institute, the International Republican Institute, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems – to support elections and political transitions across the globe. Our mission is to work together with local, regional, and global partners to build resilient, inclusive and accountable democracies.

CEPPS was independently established in 1995 and is funded by the Global Elections and Political Transitions (GEPT) Program at USAID.

Operating as a consortium, CEPPS provides USAID and other donors with the capacity to deliver complex democracy, rights and governance (DRG) programming at scale across the world.

In December 2021, CEPPS was selected as the prime recipient of the USAID Democratic Elections and Political Processes (DEPP) Leader with Associates Award. This partnership with USAID enables the consortium to support the establishment and consolidation of inclusive and accountable democracies to advance freedom, dignity and development over the next five years.

As CEPPS begins this new chapter, the three core institutes, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, the International Republican Institute, and the National Democratic Institute, will be joined by four senior technical partners: The American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative, the Center for International Private Enterprise, Democracy Arch, and Internews.
