Transnational Responses to Kleptocracy: The Role of Transit and Destination Countries
Join the International Republican Institute on March 29 for a hybrid event on the multifaceted nature of kleptocratic tactics and the role of transit and destination countries in Europe in enabling transnational corruption.
Overview.
The International Republican Institute (IRI) invites you to join us for “Transnational Responses to Kleptocracy: The Role of Transit and Destination Countries” on March 29th in Brussels. This half-day hybrid (in-person and virtual) event will take place in the afternoon from 2:45 to 6:15 pm CET, with a reception to follow in the early evening for those attending in-person.
The event will explore the multifaceted nature of kleptocratic tactics and the role of transit and destination countries in Europe in enabling transnational corruption. In light of Russia’s recent invasion of Ukraine, panelists will also reflect on Russian kleptocracy as a vehicle for authoritarian rule. IRI will also present its new report, The Kleptocrat’s Playbook, which provides an innovative framework for understanding the range of tactics corrupt leaders employ around the world.
Planned speakers include Members of European Parliament, EU-based think-tanks and academics, as well as US-based experts from the National Endowment for Democracy, the Hudson Institute, and IRI.
Event Registration: If you would like to join virtually, please register using the Eventbrite registration box above. Zoom information will be sent to you the morning of the event.
