Washington, DC – IRI expresses its deep condolences to the people of the Republic of Ghana for the loss of President John Evans Fifii Atta Mills. President Atta Mills worked tirelessly to promote economic growth and development in Ghana and his commitment to the continued advancement of democracy in Ghana enabled it to be a beacon of freedom, peace and stability on the African continent.
With less than five months remaining before scheduled national elections, IRI encourages the people of Ghana to honor the memory of President Atta Mills by publicly renewing their commitment democratic elections in December.
