Peter T. Madigan

Board Member

Peter Madigan has served on IRI’s Board of Directors since 1991 and is a past vice chair of the board.  An expert in international trade and congressional relations, Madigan has served three U.S. presidents.  Under President Reagan, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Legislative Affairs, as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services and as the legislative assistant to the director of the Office of Management and Budget.  Under George H.W. Bush, he served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs.  Under George W. Bush, he served as chief of staff to United States trade ambassador.  Madigan started his career as a House Republican legislative aid.  He serves on the Board of Visitors of the School of Policy and International Affairs at the University of Maine.
