IRI and Dartmouth’s Political Violence FieldLab Partner on Research and Evaluation to Strengthen Democracy

Washington, DC.— In January 2020, the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Center for Global Impact and the Political Violence FieldLab at Dartmouth College launched a formal partnership to collaborate on research, evaluations and program innovation focused on bolstering democracy in fragile and conflict-affected countries. Led by Professor Jason Lyall, the FieldLab brings together a global community of scholars from leading universities that conducts rigorous empirical research to inform policy and programming approaches for preventing violent conflict and safeguarding democracy in fragile contexts.

Leveraging their expertise, IRI and the FieldLab will collaborate on original research projects and program evaluations to maximize the impact of democracy and governance interventions in fragile and conflict-affected countries. Through this partnership, IRI will continue developing new, innovative and evidence-based programming techniques that can be piloted and improved to guarantee effectiveness. Ultimately, IRI’s partners will benefit from both the FieldLab’s innovative research techniques and IRI’s commitment to putting its data to work.
