WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the International Republican Institute (IRI) announced the hire of Katie Harbath as the new director of technology and democracy for IRI’s Center for Global Impact:

Katie joins IRI as a global leader at the intersection of elections, democracy, and technology.  Prior to joining IRI, Katie founded Anchor Change, a firm focused on guiding clients through online civic engagement.  Previously, Katie spent a decade as Facebook’s director of public policy where she built and led international teams to support elections and help elected officials and politicians be more responsive and connected to constituents. Katie’s work has made her a global expert on technology, regulation, and transparency in elections. 

Earlier in her career, Katie held senior roles at the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and numerous political campaigns.

She serves as a board member at the National Conference on Citizenship, Democracy Works, and the Center for Journalism Ethics at the University of Madison-Wisconsin. Katie is also a fellow at the Atlantic Council, the Integrity Institute, and the Bipartisan Policy Center. 

Katie holds a BA in journalism and political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
