Washington, DC – “IRI expresses deep sadness over the unexpected death of Lance Copsey. Lance worked with IRI on many projects, and was a valuable partner in the cause of advancing freedom and democracy worldwide.
“During Iraq’s most difficult period, Lance courageously worked to build a state-of-the-art media studio that gave Iraqis from all walks of life a voice in the reconstruction of their country. He worked alongside Iraqis, helping them to film their first political debate as well as important civic education programs. In 2007, Lance received a Telly Award for an IRI-funded production promoting the debates of political leaders during the campaign for the January 31, 2005 Transitional National Assembly elections.
