Washington, DC – IRI issued the following statement on the terrorist attacks in Paris.
“Yesterday, the world witnessed the horrific terrorist attacks in Paris and was reminded once again that the challenge we face in combatting violent extremism is not an easy one. While the focus now is on fighting ISIS militarily, we must recommit ourselves to supporting activists and moderate voices in the Middle East who are fighting against this violent ideology with a vision of hope and democracy.
“As we mourn the loss of life in Paris and pray for those who were injured let us heed the call of President Ronald Reagan and ‘move toward a world in which all people are at last free to determine their own destiny.’”
