“The widespread protests across China are the latest reminder that the Chinese people desperately seek a democratic government that can be held accountable by its citizens. The International Republican Institute stands with those who have courageously raised their voices in recent days and fully condemns any state-sponsored violence and unjust imprisonment of the protestors. The people of China deserve a democratic future in which they can choose their leaders and freely exercise their rights without fear of punishment from their government.”
