Washington, D.C.— Scott Mastic today assumed his new role as Vice President for Programs at the International Republican Institute (IRI). Mastic previously served as IRI’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) from 2009 to 2017, and joined the Institute in 1998.
“Scott brings both tremendous expertise and wide-ranging experience to the role of Vice President for Programs,” said IRI President Daniel Twining. “We welcome the vital perspective and leadership that he brings to IRI’s executive team as a nearly 20-year veteran of the organization.”
During his time at IRI, Mastic has led political party building, elections support, civil society strengthening and democratic governance initiatives throughout the Middle East and North Africa. His approach to supporting democratic development since the start of the Arab Awakening in 2011 has prioritized partnerships with key regional organizations to develop cutting-edge program approaches utilizing technology and promoting increased transparency and government accountability. Mastic’s areas of expertise include citizen security, countering violent extremism and building resilient democracies.
