About Armin Laschet

Armin Laschet is chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia . He is also deputy Chairman of the CDU Germany and in this capacity deputy of Chairwoman Angela Merkel, the German Federal Chancellor. From 1994 to 1998 he was member of the German Bundestag and from 1999 to 2005 member of the European Parliament. From 2005 to 2010 he served as Minister for Generations, Family, Women and Integration and in 2010 at the same time Minister for Federal Affairs, Europe and Media. Since 1999 he is associate lecturer of European Studies at RWTH Aachen.
