We are updating our Data Protection Policy to reflect changes we’ve made to strengthen your privacy. This is part of our ongoing commitment to being transparent about how we use your data and keep it safe. We are including changes to address the new standards introduced by the European Union’s (EU) data protection law known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Here are some of the highlights of what’s changing:

  • GDPR: On May 25, 2018, a new EU data protection law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), takes effect. The GDPR gives individuals in the EU more control over how their data is used and places certain obligations on businesses that process information about those individuals. IRI is in the final stages of harmonizing our Data Protection Policy’s principles to align with those set forth in the GDPR. We believe that those principles apply to the data of all the individuals we interact with, and therefore those principles will be applicable for all our operations around the world.

  • Functionality: Depending on the nature of our relationship with you, we may provide you with the ability to access, download, and request deletion of your personal information.

  • Transparency: We’ve provided additional details about the information we collect and how we use that information. We’ve also explained your choices and the control you have over your information.

If you have questions regarding our privacy and data protection practices, please contact dataprivacy@iri.org. Thank you for supporting our mission to promote democracy around the world.
