On Thursday, March 2, the Women’s Democracy Network (WDN) will recognize Greta Van Susteren and Dr. Isatou Touray at its annual “Jeane J. Kirkpatrick Luncheon” honoring women leaders. Recently dubbed one of the world’s 100 most powerful women by Forbes for the sixth consecutive year, Van Susteren is a veteran journalist and attorney who covered breaking news for outlets including CNN and Fox News before joining MSNBC in 2017. Former White House aide Anita McBride will join Van Susteren for a discussion following the award presentation.
WDN will also honor Gambian leader Dr. Isatou Touray for her work advancing women’s rights. Dr. Touray was recently appointed Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment under the democratically-elected president of The Gambia Adama Barrow. As Executive Director of the Gambia Committee on Traditional Practices Affecting the Health of Women and Children, Touray has led the fight against discrimination, forced marriages, and female genital mutilation.
