Eguiar Lizundia

Deputy Director for Technical Advancement, Center for Global Impact

Eguiar Lizundia is the Deputy Director for Technical Advancement of IRI’s Center for Global Impact.

Eguiar joined IRI as a Senior Governance Specialist in 2016 to lead the Institute’s efforts to address corruption globally. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the development of programmatic approaches that seek to make the Institute more effective at tackling challenges to democratic governance. Prior to IRI, Eguiar helped design, implement and evaluate public sector management reform projects in Latin America and Africa at the World Bank. Originally from the Canary Islands, Spain, he has worked at the Organization of American States and the National Democratic Institute. Previously, Eguiar was a consultant in Spain and a researcher in Argentina. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, an International Diploma from Sciences Po Paris and a Master’s of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Eguiar writes regularly for Spanish media outlets and has published opinion pieces in The American Interest, The Hill and The Diplomatic Courier, among others.
