Alec Poitevint first joined IRI’s Board of Directors in 1992 and served until 1997; he rejoined the board in 2001. A successful businessman and long-time Republican Party official, Poitevint served as chair of the 2012 Republican National Convention, treasurer of the Republican National Committee from 1997 to 2001 and member of the National Committee from 1989 to 2012.

He served four terms as chairman of the Georgia Republican Party.  During his tenure on the Republican National Committee, he was a leader in the political transformation of Georgia Republican Party, which resulted in the party gaining control of all major offices in the state in 2002.  In addition, he also served as campaign chairman for Sonny Perdue, who was elected that year as the first Republican governor in 134 years.

A member of numerous corporate boards, Poitevint served as Chairman and Member of the Board of the Georgia Ports Authority and serves as chair and president of Southeastern Minerals, Inc. and its affiliated companies.
