Geoff Merck has served as Director of Information Technology and Digital Security for IRI since 2016. Leading a team of IT professionals, he manages global infrastructure, support, and digital security for IRI staff and programs around the globe.

Geoff joined IRI in 2005 as IT support manager to expand the reach of the IT department beyond the Washington DC headquarters by providing support services to the many geographically dispersed field offices, as well as positioning the team to provide additional support to the programmatic work of IRI. With a core focus on enabling IRI staff to perform and collaborate at their best, Geoff has been project manager for significant upgrades for the institute including the migration to cloud-based collaboration suites, facilities and infrastructure upgrades, and the continued development of the Information Technology department to meet the ever-increasing demand for real-time, global collaboration, within the institute as well as with partners.

Geoff has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, including focuses in a wide variety of areas of the Information Technology domain, with focus on modernization, efficiency, and security. He holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of Hartford.
