Mrs. Prieto-Botero is a Political Scientist from the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia), with a master’s degree in public policy for Latin America from Oxford University (United Kingdom). She has served as General Director of Foros Semana at Semana magazine, the most influential publication on political and economic analysis in Colombia. She has also been Executive Director of the Instituto de Ciencia Política – Hernán Echavarría Olózaga – (Bogotá-Colombia) one of the most influential market-oriented policy think tanks in the country. In addition, she has been an advisor and manager of political campaigns for several candidates both at a national and local level in Colombia. At an academic level, Mrs. Prieto was professor at the Political Science and International Relations Faculty at the Universidad del Rosario (Bogotá – Colombia).
Currently, Marcela is Senior Partner at Vision Americas International LLC, a consultancy firm specialized in government affairs and business development in the Americas. She has high-level professional relationships both in Washington and throughout the western hemisphere. Through a solid and well-articulated network, and thanks to years of work, she has developed bonds of trust and respect between political leaders, civil society actors and the business community.
She is frequently invited by different international media outlets, think tanks, and Federal agencies of the United States (principally the Department of State) to give lectures and / or to be part of working groups, as a regional and global analyst. She is part of the group of experts and senior advisors of the “The Dialogue Foundation”. The Foundation brings together renowned experts from around the world who have dedicated their lives and careers to helping individuals and institutions overcome disagreements and resolve disputes.
In September 2023, she officially joined the Advisory Council for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Republican Institute (IRI) in Washington D.C.
