IRI Long-Term Observers to Monitor Tunisia’s Pre-Election Preparations
As Tunisia prepares for its parliamentary and presidential elections to be held in October and November IRI has deployed long-term observers to monitor and report on the pre-electoral environment and election preparations in all 24 governorates of Tunisia.
Tunis, Tunisia – As Tunisia prepares for its parliamentary and presidential elections to be held in October and November IRI has deployed long-term observers to monitor and report on the pre-electoral environment and election preparations in all 24 governorates of Tunisia.
IRI’s long term observers from seven different countries will take part in briefings and meetings with election stakeholders around Tunis from August 29-31, before deploying to various locations around the country for the duration of the elections.

Building on IRI’s observation of the voter registration period, long-term observers will meet regularly with election commission officials, political party operatives, civic organizations involved in the elections, domestic and international journalists, security personnel and other stakeholders. IRI’s long-term observation will continue through the legislative elections on October 26, the presidential election on November 23 and the possible run-off anticipated for the end of December 2014.
