Beatriz de Anta has worked at the International Republican Institute since March 2017 and currently represents IRI in Panama as Resident Program Director. Beatriz has worked on developing projects strengthening the technical and institutional capacity of nascent civil society organizations (CSOs) in Panama and in the LAC region for these groups to advocate for the civil, political, labor, or religious rights of their members while working towards organizational sustainability.

In Panama she also focused on citizen-centered Governance projects seeking to fostering and strengthening a culture of transparency, accountability, citizen participation and access to information at the national level in connection with the initiative of Open Government Partnership and in collaboration with the three branches of the State as well as civil society, underrepresented groups, academia, journalists, and other international cooperation actors. Prior to IRI, Beatriz previously worked as a Parliamentary Assistant to a Member of the European Parliament in Brussels where she worked on the Legal, Foreign Affairs Committees and Delegations of EU-US, EU-Israel, and the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly. She later worked a Political Adviser for the European People´s Party (EPP) focusing on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the EPP Ministers´ Meetings of Foreign Affairs and the external affairs of the EPP with the Eastern Partnership and the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) regions. She holds a Master’s in International Public Policy with an affiliation on China Studies from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington D.C.
